Past
It was a power that his father knew he would pass onto his children. It was an extremely dominate trait that is only repressed in the utmost rarest of cases. It wasn't this that made his father obsessed. No, if it was just the simple fact that ninety-nine percent of the time his children would have had it he would not have thought any more of it than if--for example--his children were born with his eyes the same amount of time. What made him obsessed was the fact that these powers often developed wrong. For some the jump from reality to reality couldn't be completed as it should, and their souls would be lost within the void that separated the realms, and for others this jump would be completed as it should but when they came back something would go wrong that would make them twisted and deformed.
Adriance's father already had a son named Aishan, and he desired to have another child. However, he knew that having another child wasn't as simple as finding a female and getting her pregnant. He knew the chances of him having a child that not only had his power, but developed it incorrectly was extremely high. He had to find a female whom he could have a child with that would develop the power in the way it should be developed. He would kidnapped many females, knocking them up and killing the child when they failed to be what he hoped for.
Adriance's mother was just one of these woman his father had abducted. she was a fae. The daughter of both the unseelie and seelie court. She was the granddaughter of the king of one court, and the daughter of the king of the other. Adrance's father was not the only man she was having sex with at the time. She had fallen in love with an elf, and was sleeping with him as well as Adriance's father. When she finally became pregnant it was not just the child of one of the two men growing in her stomach, but both. She was having twins.
She feared for both her children lives. She knew that one wasn't the fallen angels, and feared that she would kill the babe because of this fact. The other she feared wouldn't be up to his standard, and he would kill that baby for that reason. She was allowed to carry both babies to full term and ended up giving birth to Adriance and his twin sister Mikayliah. She knew by this time which child belonged to which man. Adriance belonged to the man who had stolen her body while Mikayliah to the man who had stolen her heart.
It was this knowledge that made her panic for her daughter's life. She begun to think that he hadn't killed her because--like her-- the fallen angel hadn't been certain which child was his, and it was here that she had to make the most difficult decision in her life. She decided to flee with her daughter, leaving her son behind with his father. She knew that if she took Adriance that his father would stop at nothing to get him back, and her daughter would be killed, at least she believed that Mikayliah would be killed.
Adriance was raised in a world of wealth--a world where money was never an issue. He was one of the elite upper class who almost literally had money growing on trees in their back yards. His life was the envy of countless other people who foolishly thought that money equal happiness, and while Adriance's life was far from horrible in spite the fact he had money there was one major flaw--his father. Both Adriance and Aishan were loved by their father, but he was a controlling and dominating man. He was the type of man that expected his sons to follow his rules to perfection or risk his wrath, and Adriance was the type of child that believed that rules were made to be broken.
This did not please his father, and he came to believe that if Adriance's free spirited nature wasn't beaten out of him that the powers that Adriance had inherited from him would overwhelm him and he would be lost during a jump or become twisted and deformed upon a return. The only being that could reign his father in was an angel, who in spite the fact that his father fell from grace still remained his friend. He had a daughter named Nydia , who is around the same age as Adriance. Nydia's and Adriance's fathers agreed to join their two families through marriage, but it was not Adriance and Nydia whom them they betrothed. It was Nydia and Aishan.
This betrothal business mattered little to Nydia and Adriance. They became extremely close friends, partners in crime. Where one was found it was highly likely that the other would be there, as well. They both enjoyed mischief and pranks and otherwise doing things that would sent Adriance's father in a rage. Nydia's father, on the other hand, believed that kids will be kids and thus found their antics amusing. He would calm his friend down, but his cooling touch ended the day he died. There was no one to step between Adriance and his father's rage.
At least, until his brother decided to intervene. Aishan decided that the best way to protect his brother from their father was to remove him from their lives completely, and he did just that by killing him. Once that task was done he took his brother and moved to another state, and they would move yet again after this move to be closer to Aishan ex wife, who had left Aishan because his dominating nature in the bedroom scared her. However, it wasn't Aishan who wanted this move. It was Adriance, who had developed a sexual relationship with his sister-in-law. It might have been Aishan's desire to be near his ex wife that made him agree to the move, or it might have been the guilt he still harbored over the ways he failed to protect Adriance from their father's wrath that makes it extremely difficult for him to tell his brother no.
Present
For whatever reason, Nydia and him seemed to find themselves in the same schools in spite the different times each of them moved. It might have been the fact that they took to heart their saying that one cannot be without the other that played a role in this, or it might have been just mere coincidence. Either way they both attend the same school.
Recently, Nydia discovered the truth about her own heritage and about Adriance as well. For the longest time, she had thought that they were both human and had only just found out the truth. She found out that she was an angel, and one entrusted with specific task. It was this task that lead her to Hellifyno, and she used her powers to bring Adriance with her because one simply can't go on an adventure without the other.
